Happy world Occupational Therapy day and OT month!
This week in Nepal we have been having some celebrations!

We celebrated 10 years of Occupational Therapy in United Mission Hospital, Tansen along with our bi-annual meeting of all Nepal’s OTs on October 21, and Mental health for OT workshop on October 22. We so much enjoyed our time together networking, learning and getting peer support as we are so few in Nepal these opportunities are so valuable for us. It was great to have our departments first Occupational Therapist, Rebikah Rai return to celebrate with us! There are now 3 staff in the OT department!
We see patients both in the wards and the outpatient department. Generally the patients are discharged earlier (as being an acute care set up), besides the patient come from very far off places so they cannot come for regular follow ups for therapy needed. Hence our focus is mostly on educating family members on required exercises, involving and teaching them while on therapy sessions, encouraging on engaging in daily activities of living etc.

Green Pastures Hospital in Pokhara celebrated OT day and world Cerebral Palsy day together on Friday 25th October.. having the first Occupational Therapy department in Nepal started some 35 years ago! with now 4 OT staff!
We are hoping to hear about more celebrations as well!
Happy OT month everyone! ANOT is working towards more and more access to Occupational Therapy services in Nepal that will improve health and well being of many more people.

Occupational Therapy is a Health Care Profession working towards the prevention of disability and restoration of independent functional ability.
